Originally part of the Dog House family, Micki Strickland purchased Rainbow House In 1997 with the goal of creating a "down home" bar & grill. She envisioned good food in a friendly atmosphere where everyone would be welcome. Now with a full, tasty menu, the completely remodeled Rainbow Bar & Grill is the new favorite for locals and area business persons.
Our unique experience includes murals depicting the old Myrtle Beach Pavilion, a 50's style diner, and the Land of Oz, along with our "Rainbow Venus de Milo," all painted by local artist Sheik Ster.
To wind up your visit to Rainbow remember to check out our shop, which highlights some of the many items available at our on-line store.
Unique to the Rainbow experience is our beautiful murals covering a majority of the wall space.
Entering Rainbow, you are greeted by "Dorothy and the boys" in a Land of Oz collage. There is also a tribute in the entranceway to CLAWS, one our favorite charities. Throughout the property, depictions of local personalities, visiting guests, a 50's style diner, and the famous Myrtle Beach Pavilion are among our famous works of art.
Our resident artist, Sheik Ster, painted all of the murals and "Rainbow Venus". Sheik is a nationally published freelance illustrator, cartoonist, caricaturist, tattooist, mural artist, writer, actor, and professional wrestler.
A graduate of the Art Institute of Atlanta, Sheik got his start airbrushing T-shirts for tourists years ago on Ocean Boulevard here in Myrtle Beach.
In 1992, Geffen Records commissioned Sheik to produce artwork for recording artist Jackyl. He has also custom painting wrestling tights and gear for legendary pro wrestler Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, as well as the now-infamous "Crippler" Chris Benoit.
In January of 2007, after a six year wrestling career, Sheik won the TWA Southern Heavyweight Championship in the TWA arena in Dalton, Georgia. Sheik then appeared as cannibal-cult hunting Bob Neeler in the independent film "Six Degrees of Desperation".
Sheik now lives to Myrtle Beach, close to the ocean. He is continuing work on his first novel, and is currently producing a movie in Myrtle Beach. Contact Sheik by email at sheiksafreak@yahoo.com, and view his online portfolio at www.myspace.com/sheikart2.
